HELPFUL TIPS ABOUT GUITAR BOOKS

March 26, 2007

My studio has a shelf full of guitar books. Over the years I have collected information on many different styles, including: Rock, Blues, Classical, Ragtime, Jazz, Folk, Celtic, New Age and Country, just to name a few. I also have the entire collection of Mel Bay’s Guitar Lesson Method, The Beatles Complete Scores, several issues of Guitar Player, Fingerstyle and Acoustic Guitar magazines, plus various books on chords, scales and music theory.

As a teacher, I often look through my guitar books to find different ideas to share with my students. As a guitarist, I am constantly reminded of how much there still is to learn! I only wish there was enough time to read through all the guitar books in my library. But at least these resources are close at hand when I need to use them.

Whatever your particular level or style of interest may be, there is certainly a guitar book just for you. For example, as a beginner you might be interested in:

The Guitar Starter Kit.

This package includes:

  • The Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 with CD
  • A songbook of Easy Pop Melodies with CD
  • The Incredible Chord Finder book
  • Plus a video explaining Basic Guitar and String Set Up.

The Incredible Chord Finder is an excellent book, in and of itself. It contains over 1,000 guitar chords, which makes it a good reference book for any guitar player to have. And you don’t need to purchase the Guitar Starter Kit. If you want it, you can get it separately.

Keep in mind that in order to become a good guitarist you will need to develop four basic areas:

  • Coordination
  • Knowledge
  • Application
  • Skill

Thankfully, there are many resources available to help you in the form of guitar books, CDs, DVDs, online lessons and private instruction.  So, try to take advantage of as many of these resources as you can. After-all, having a commitment to continuing education is the key to your success!

THE ULTIMATE GUITAR LEARNING COURSE

March 19, 2007

If you’re a guitar player you probably know that Jamorama is one of the most popular, downloadable, learn guitar courses available on the market today. But, there must be a reason for this, right?

It’s not unusual for me, as the webmaster of ABC Learn Guitar, to receive requests from program developers asking if I will promote their products on my website or blog. It happens all the time. But the Jamorama- Ultimate Guitar Learning Kit is one of the most intriguing ones to come along in awhile. Let me tell you why…

This impressive package includes:

  • Three “Learn to Play Guitar with Jamorama” books for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced players.
  • Two fun computer games which help the student learn how to read and transcribe music, while developing their ear at the same time.
  • Two e-books covering guitar tuning and techniques.
  • Plus free online consultation for guitar students who need help with specific problems.

So it’s easy to see that this is a very comprehensive package for learning how to play the guitar. The program will teach you everything from strumming, timing, muting and bending, to reading music and transcribing it. But one of the best things about Jamorama- The Ultimate Learn Guitar Kit is that it uses a fun approach, and I believe this  will help to maximize the learning process for most guitar students.

Don’t just take my word for it though, check it out for yourself at:

New Guitar Blog Site

March 12, 2007

Hi everyone!

How do you like my new blog site?  I’m just moving in, so please excuse me if I seem a little disorganized- There’s much work to be done :)

It’s been quite an interesting week.  Blogger.com has made some new upgrades on there site and I haven’t been able to login since! That is why I  decided to move my ABC Learn Guitar Blog  posts over to Word Press.  Hopefully it won’t take too long to get used to where everything is.

You’ll notice I’ve changed the name too. This is just to avoid duplicating my previous blog. I definitely don’t want to get in trouble with the search engines!

Anyway, just wanted to let y’all know what’s been going on. I’ll write more later. In the mean time, as I always say…

 Keep practicing!
